Byline: Kate Loveys and Lucy Ballinger

THEIR natural habitat is the red carpet.

But from next month, you might spot a pair of Jimmy Choos waiting at a bus stop, teetering into the office or even racing about on the school run.

The designer shoe beloved of celebrities and costing upwards of $450, is going down-market - and so is the price.

The luxury brand has created a cut-price range for H&M, with shoes starting at $79.95.

That's how much Choo fans will hand over for a pair of zebra-print studded ballet pumps.

Then there's a pair of skyscraper zipped blue stilettos for $129 and grey suede peep-toe heel boots at $149.

You could buy the lot for the same price as a single pair of the designer range.

But that's if there are any left. The word is that the cut-price Choos will be walking out of H&M stores.

Big crowds and queues are expected as shoe aficionados rush to dip their toes into a designer lifestyle.

Also part of the collection will be bags from $39.95. A Jimmy Choo original is normally in the range of $1,500.

The collaboration is another coup for H&M, which has produced collections with designers including Matthew Williamson and Stella McCartney. The launch of these ranges, particularly Stella McCartney's, saw a massive rush of bargain hunters.

There was pandemonium in the stores as shoppers fought to get their hands on the clothes.

Perhaps with this in mind, the new Jimmy Choo collection is not just limited to shoes and bags.

The company is making its first foray into clothing design with a range to match the shoes, including a beaded dress, blue suede mini-dress and glitzy embroidered T- shirt.

A faux fur gilet is expected to fly off the rails at $89.95.

Tamara Mellon, founder and president of Jimmy Choo, said: 'We are privileged to be among the fashion greats affiliated with H&M.' The Jimmy Choo range will be launched at H&M's Dublin stores on South King Street and Dundrum Shopping Centre, on Saturday November 14, at 9am.
